Benefits ALL Employees receive a $2000.00 per year retention bonus paid in $200 increments over 10 months.

  • Starting Salary $17.69; 6-Months: $18.67; 1-year: $19.52. $12.00 per hour during training
  • 25 - 35 hours per week
  • Applicants that already hold a CDL-B, Airbrake, Passenger & SBC will receive $500 ($250 after 6 months, $250 after 1 year)

Responsibilities

  • Transport students to and from school in a safe, caring manner
  • Optional extra work: school field trips and commercial charters
  • Ensure a complete safety check of the vehicle before and after use
  • Attend and participate in safety meetings

 Qualifications

  • Must be18 years of age or older and hold a valid driver license for a minimum of 2 years
  • Must have an excellent driving history; “more than three (3) recorded moving violations during the past two years will disqualify your application”
  • Can read and speak English sufficiently
  • Has to pass a DOT physical examination in accordance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations
  • Has to pass a DOT Drug/Alcohol screen in accordance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations
  • Has to pass New Hampshire Criminal Background check
  • You must be a high school graduate or have a GED
  • Any person applying for a job as a Bus Operator must inform Manchester Transit Authority of all previous employment as the driver of a commercial vehicle (covering the last ten (10) years).

TITLE

Job Description – Part-time Spare Dispatcher / Call Center Specialist

PURPOSE

This document defines the job description for the Part-time Spare / Call Center Specialist position.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

This position is responsible for fielding incoming calls or in-person questions regarding MTA / CART transit bus system. Booking Paratransit and Demand Response rides into a computer aided scheduling software. Selling fare media by phone, internet or in-person using the fare box and cash/credit card systems. Managing downtown transit bus operations such as on-time departure, assisting with passenger transfers, driver and vehicle operations. Provide basic travel training.

SUPERVISOR

This position reports to the Assistant Director

JOB DUTIES

  • Answering multiline telephone system and book Paratransit/Demand Response service requests

  • Ensure compliance with conditional eligibility standards

  • Ensure compliance with requests for deviated fixed route within defined service area

  • Ensure all calls are answered promptly and any voicemails are returned within 45 minutes

  • Record any denial of service

  • Utilize a two-way radio to communicate with bus drivers on the road

  • Transfer calls to the main office

  • Supervise affiliated employees and ensure compliance with all MTA policies

  • Drive transit or school routes as needed

  • Data entry as needed

  • Daily cash reconciliation

QUALIFICATIONS                               

  • High school diploma equivalent or greater

  • Knowledge of service area

  • Interpersonal skills and ability to lead by example

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to prioritize, manage time, and work independently effectively

  • Possession of or ability to obtain CDL-B, Passenger Endorsement, School Bus Certificate, Air Brake

  • Understanding and compliance with confidentiality

  • Demonstrate computer skills, basic skills required, advanced skills preferred

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS  

  • Ability to communicate in the English language required, Spanish language preferred

  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time

  • Ability to operate a standard business computer

  • Ability to read a standard street map and online mapping functions

  • Ability to operate a multiline phone system

  • Ability to operate a radio communication device

  • Ability to work in a Union environment

  • Ability to work productively with a diverse team

  • Ability to work in a self-directed manner

WORK SCHEDULE

Guarantee of 20 hours per week (up to 40 hrs- some weeks),

Saturday 8:00am – 6:30pm

Monday-Friday – Variable schedule up to 9.5 hours OR Cover Dispatch/Call Center vacations and School/Transit bus routes, as needed.
