Salary

Responsibilities
-Operate a transit bus on a fixed route or on a demand response schedule. Availability Monday-Saturday, a scheduled day off based on seniority.
-Conduct a complete vehicle safety check before and after use.
-Attend and participate in safety meetings.

Optional extra work: school field trips and commercial charters.

Qualifications
Successful applicants must:
-Be 18 years of age or older.
-Hold a valid driver’s license for a minimum of two years.
-Have an excellent driving history (more than three recorded moving violations during the past two years will disqualify your application).
-Bring a current copy of their Motor Vehicle Record.
-Read and speak English sufficiently.
-Pass a DOT physical examination in accordance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
-Pass a DOT drug/alcohol screening in accordance with Federal Motor -Carrier Safety Regulations.
-Pass a New Hampshire criminal background check.
-Be a high school graduate or have a GED.

Job Title: Utility

Department: Maintenance   

Responsible to: Supervisor or Technician in Charge

Pay: $19.55 – $22.00/hr

Primary Objective:

  • This position requires the basic knowledge and skills to perform fueling, cleaning and minor maintenance repairs on all MTA vehicles, equipment, buildings, properties, and grounds.
  • Particular attention will be given to a systematic and timely approach to performing quality procedures in maintenance utility work.
  • Repair standards require minimized come-backs.
  • Particular attention will be to use of only necessary parts for quality repair.
  • Utility personnel must be familiar with and follow Maintenance Manual policies, procedures and standards while performing duties.
  • Utility personnel will work closely with the supervisor or technician in charge to perform their duties accurately and also assist technicians when needed.        
  • Key Responsibilities:                                                                  Perform vehicle fueling, cleaning, and minor maintenance repairs to meet MTA standards.
  • Repair vehicles at a minimum cost without sacrificing quality of repair.
  • Ensure vehicles meet safety requirements in compliance with N.H. laws.
  • Perform road calls as requested.
  • Reassemble, clean and reinstall components as assigned.
  • Follow specific directions given verbally or written.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, “team” oriented environment.
  • Assist in all repair functions as requested.
  • Maintain a professional appearance.
  • Properly use the Transit Fleet Maintenance Information System.
  • Properly fills in appropriate information on work orders.
  • Communicate professionally with supervisor and other technicians.
  • Use safely power and hand-held mechanics tools.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Other Responsibilities:

  • The Technician may require assistance or guidance in the performance of his/her duties from immediate supervisors or other technicians with higher levels of experience or training.
  • The utility personal will, at times, be expected to be self-supervised and as his/her seniority and or skill level dictates, pass down information as directed by the supervisor or technician in charge.
  • The supervisor will inspect all jobs before work is performed and also at the completion of work performed.
School Bus
